Getting started
What is Idynic?
Idynic is your career biographer. It reads the documents and stories you give it into one evidence-backed portrait, keeps track of the roles you care about, and writes each application from that portrait: a tailored resume, a cover letter, drafted answers to the application's own questions, and talking points for the interview. Every line is yours to edit, and you always press submit yourself. The full walkthrough is on How it works.
First steps
Upload a resume if you have one, or tell your biographer a story in chat about something you built or shipped. Either way, Idynic pulls out individual claims about your skills, achievements, and experience and shows them to you. Everything it finds is yours to confirm, edit, or delete.
What an evidence block is
An evidence block is one specific claim about you: a skill, an achievement, a project, a certification, a degree. Each block links back to the document or story it came from and carries a confidence score for how well supported it is. Blocks are what tailoring draws from, so a fuller portrait makes for a better application.
Your portrait
Building your portrait
Your portrait grows from evidence: resumes and other documents, stories you tell in chat, and details you fill in yourself. A block backed by several independent sources scores higher than one mentioned in passing, so a second document, or a story about the same work, strengthens what is already there.
Confidence scores
Every block carries a confidence score from 0 to 100. It rises with the number and quality of the sources behind the claim, and it weights recent evidence more heavily than old evidence, at a rate that depends on the kind of claim: a specific tool ages faster than a leadership pattern, and degrees and certifications do not age at all. Adding a story that shows the skill in recent work raises the score.
Finding your way around
Your portrait lives under Portrait in the nav, in four tabs. Portrait is the summary, your strengths, and your achievements. Details holds work history, education, skills, projects, and ventures. Resume is the base resume Idynic keeps current from your evidence. Sources lists every document and story the portrait was built from.
Identity reflection
The panel at the top of your Portrait is your identity reflection: a headline, an archetype, and a short bio written from your evidence blocks. It is a summary of what your portrait currently says, and it is regenerated as your portrait changes.
Check-ins keep it current
A portrait is only worth having if it is still true, so your biographer can email you a short check-in every few weeks, three by default, asking what you have shipped or driven lately. It is a brief conversation, not a form, and it drafts the story for you to approve before anything joins your portrait. Change the cadence, pause it, or turn it off under Settings → Connections.
Opportunities
Adding opportunities
Add a role by pasting a job URL or the description text, forwarding a job email to your intake address, or saving it with the Chrome extension as you browse. Idynic fetches the posting, pulls out the requirements, and scores them against your portrait. If you already have a base resume, it starts the tailored draft without being asked.
Email intake
Turn on email intake under Settings → Connections to get your own private intake address. Forward job alerts from LinkedIn or Indeed, or a note from a recruiter, and Idynic parses each job out of the message and ranks it against your saved search preferences. Parsed jobs wait in your Inbox for review: nothing joins your pipeline until you add it. Set up a mail filter to forward automatically, and regenerate or disable the address whenever you want.
Match scores
Each opportunity gets a match score out of 100, split into must-have and nice-to-have requirements. Idynic walks the requirements one at a time and shows the evidence behind each, including the ones your portrait does not cover. The gaps are the point: they tell you what to shore up before the interview.
Tailoring for a role
A tailored profile picks the most relevant blocks from your portrait and reframes them for one specific role. It comes with a tailored resume, a cover letter, talking points for the interview, and Q&A drafts: draft answers to that application's own questions. Every line is drawn from evidence already in your portrait, and every line is editable before you use it. Export to PDF or send it as a link.
Sharing with recruiters
A share link shows one tailored profile: the role it was written for, and nothing else. Not your full portrait, not your other opportunities, not your notes. You pick how long the link lasts when you create it, and you can revoke it at any time under Settings → Sharing.
Your details
Work history
Portrait → Details lists the roles behind your portrait, which is what gives your evidence blocks their context and dates. Idynic fills this in from your documents and stories. To add or correct an entry, ask your biographer in chat and it updates the record for you.
Education and certifications
Degrees, certifications, and courses sit in the same Details tab and can back evidence blocks of their own. Certifications can be imported from a Credly profile in one step, and everything else is a message to your biographer away.
Skills
Skills are extracted from your documents and stories, each one an evidence block with its sources attached. If something is missing or wrong, tell your biographer in chat rather than hunting for a form.
Integrations and API
Chrome extension
The Chrome extension saves the posting in your current tab in one click, on any job board. The save comes back straight away and the slow part runs in the background: fetching the posting, extracting requirements, scoring the match, and starting a tailored draft if you have a base resume. You can close the popup and keep browsing. On Greenhouse, Workable, and Fillout application forms it can also prefill the form with your contact details, links, current role, and education. It leaves essay and demographic questions alone, and you always press submit. Setup is in the extension guide.
REST API
Read your evidence blocks, opportunities, and tailored profiles programmatically over the Idynic REST API. Create an API key under Settings → Connections, then see the API reference for endpoints and scopes.
MCP server
Use Idynic from Claude, Cursor, or any MCP-compatible client: add opportunities, generate tailored profiles, and explore your portrait in conversation. Point your client at the hosted Streamable HTTP endpoint with an API key, or run the @atriumn/idynic-mcp package locally over stdio. Both are covered in the MCP guide.
Privacy and security
Your data, your control
You own your data. Export all of it, or delete your account outright, under Settings → Account. We do not sell your personal data to recruiters or anyone else. The providers that process it on our behalf, for hosting, AI, and payments, are named in the Privacy Policy.
Controlling what you share
Nothing in your portrait is public by default. A recruiter sees a tailored profile only once you create a share link for it, and only that profile. Every link carries the expiry you set and can be revoked from Settings → Sharing.
How your data is protected
Your data travels over HTTPS and is encrypted at rest by our hosting provider. Access is scoped to your account in the database itself, so a request without your session cannot read your rows. The specifics live in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Common questions
Do I need to upload a resume to use Idynic?
No. You can build a portrait entirely from stories told in chat, filling in work history as you go. A resume is just the fastest starting point when you already have one.
Does Idynic apply to jobs for me?
No. It writes the application and hands it back to you: resume, cover letter, drafted answers, talking points. Nothing is submitted on your behalf.
How do I improve my match scores?
Give the thin blocks more evidence. Add a story about work that shows the skill, upload a document that covers it, or fill out the work history around it. Recent evidence moves a score more than old evidence.
Can recruiters see all my information?
No. A recruiter sees the tailored profile behind the link you sent them, and nothing else: not your portrait, not your other opportunities, not your notes. You can revoke the link whenever you like.
What happens to my resume after I upload it?
Idynic extracts evidence blocks from it and keeps the file under Sources, so every block can point back at where it came from. Delete the document whenever you want; the blocks it produced stay until you remove those too. The Privacy Policy covers retention in detail.
How do I add opportunities from my phone?
Forward the job email to your intake address. It works from any mail app, and the parsed job waits in your Inbox for review. The web app is responsive, so idynic.com in a mobile browser works too. The Chrome extension is desktop only.
Something is broken. How do I report it?
Use Report a Bug in the footer of any page. It files a tracked issue and gives you a link to follow it. For anything you would rather not write in a tracker, email support@idynic.com. Other ways to reach us are on Contact.
